Since we are just opening up we have chosen to offer 2018 prices to all our new customers to help spread the word about our company and to help new beekeepers and those who want to expand their bee yards, we are offering bees and equipment purchased as a kit at last season's prices.
I have been told to expect some increases in both bees and lumber prices this year. If you order your bees and hives together as a kit before we receive the prices from our suppliers, we will sell them to you at last season's prices. Your bees will not be available for pickup until spring, but you may pick up your equipment at any time after Jan 1. If you will be attending a beginner's class or bee club meeting that we will be teaching or attending, we also offer free equipment delivery.
Our Kits Compared To Others.
Our kits include all the boxes you may need for a first season hive in Missouri. All our hives are made of commercial grade or better lumber, built to the Langstroth standard and made to last.
More Than One Box - Many farm stores sell a budget quality "complete" hive kit that only has one deep box. If you purchase a strong 5-frame NUC, you could need another deep box for that hive within a week or two and with good weather should eventually need honey supers.
Langstroth Standard - Having boxes that are built to standard is important to insure that future box purchases will be interchangeable between hives. It also insures proper bee space is maintained within the hive to help with pest management and frame handling.
10 Frames that are each slightly too wide can cause lots of problems with bee space.
Built to Last- We have designed our box joints, inner covers, telescoping covers and screened bottom boards for durability. We are still using our original deluxe covers on our own hives. Our bottom boards are built with strength in mind. No one wants to worry about whether their strong, heavy hive will topple over because the bottom board collapsed.
